"From the side lines to the committee, find your role in our village's success story."

More Than Just a Game: Why Grimsargh Village FC Needs You This Season

At Grimsargh Village FC, the final whistle is only the beginning. While we love the excitement of match day and the shared energy of the sideline, our true goal is building a stronger community—fostering resilience, confidence, and a sense of belonging in every young player who wears our colors. We believe that grassroots football is a vital tool for personal development, teaching children how to win with humility, lose with grace, and work together toward a common goal.

Grimsargh has a proud history of coming together as a village and supporting one another. Our football club is at the heart of that community spirit, and we want local people to be a part of it. Whether you have football experience or simply want to help your village club thrive, every volunteer plays a vital role in creating a welcoming, positive environment for our players and families.

As our club enters an exciting new chapter of growth, we are looking for dedicated individuals to join our "team behind the team." Our expansion is driven by a surge in local interest, and to maintain our high standards of safety and fun, we need more than just names on a list; we need neighbours ready to help shape the future of youth sport in Grimsargh. This season, we are inviting you to grow alongside us. Whether you are looking to kickstart a career in sports management, give back to your local community, or simply share your passion for the game, there is a place for you in the GVFC family.

Our Current Opportunities

1. Fixtures Secretary?

The Architect of Match Day. This role is the heartbeat of the club's logistics. Without a dedicated Fixtures Secretary, the pitches remain empty and the kits stay in the bags. You are the person who ensures that when match day arrives, every detail has been accounted for so the players can focus on the game.

Detailed Responsibilities:

  • Master Scheduler: Organise and coordinate all club fixtures throughout the season, managing a complex calendar of league, cup, and friendly matches for multiple age groups.

  • Primary Liaison: Act as the central point of contact for league officials, opposing club secretaries, and our own coaching staff to confirm dates, kick-off times, and venues.

  • Regulatory Guardian: Familiarise yourself with and strictly follow all league rules, club policies, and match-day regulations to ensure the club remains in good standing.

  • Risk & Compliance: Work with the committee to ensure all matches and arrangements align with the specific requirements of our club insurance policies.

  • Strategic Input: Attend the 3-monthly club meetings to report on fixture progress, discuss logistical challenges, and stay aligned with the broader club strategy.

  • Crisis Management: Lead the effort to rearrange postponed games due to weather or pitch conditions, ensuring minimal disruption to the season.

Skills & Qualities:

Organisational Excellence: Ability to manage multiple moving parts and deadlines.

Communication: Clear and professional across email, phone, and WhatsApp.

Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Calendars) to maintain live schedules.

Integrity: A commitment to fairness and following the rules of the game.

Time Commitment: Flexible and mostly remote, peaking during fixture release periods and the start of the season. Includes attendance at quarterly committee meetings.

2. Female Coach - FA Wildcats & Squad Girls ?

Inspiring the Next Generation. We are committed to breaking down barriers for girls in football. This role is about more than coaching drills; it’s about providing a visible pathway for young girls to see themselves in the sport. You will be the face of our "FA Wildcats" and "Squad Girls" programs, which are the cornerstones of our female development strategy.

Detailed Responsibilities:

  • Program Leadership: Manage and lead the FA Wildcats (ages 5-11) and Squad Girls (ages 12-14) programs, creating a welcoming, non-competitive environment for beginners.

  • Player Retention: Develop creative sessions that focus on fun, socialising, and building confidence, ensuring that girls stay engaged with the sport as they grow.

  • Professional Development: Complete the FA Safeguarding Children, FA Introduction to First Aid, and FA Introduction to Coaching Football courses.

  • Investment in You: The club operates a reimbursement scheme where the £160 course fees are paid back to you in full following 6 months of dedicated service.

  • Safety First: Maintain the highest standards of child safety, including a mandatory enhanced DBS Check.

  • Committee Voice: Attend 3-monthly club meetings to provide updates on the girls' section and advocate for the resources needed to grow the female game.

Skills & Qualities:

Empowerment: A genuine passion for female participation in sport.

Approachability: An encouraging, patient manner that puts beginners at ease.

Role Model: The ability to lead by example and inspire confidence in young athletes.

Time Commitment: Approx. 2-4 hours per week for sessions and preparation, plus attendance at quarterly meetings to help shape the future of the girls' section.

3. Team Coach & Assistant Coach

Building Character through Sport. Specifically for our brand-new teams launching next season, we need mentors who understand that winning isn't everything. You will be responsible for the holistic development of your squad, ensuring every child feels valued regardless of their ability on the pitch.

Detailed Responsibilities:

Team Foundation: Help launch and lead our upcoming expansion teams, setting the culture and standards for the squad from day one.

Session Planning: Lead weekly training sessions that are structured, safe, and—most importantly—engaging for the players.

Match Day Management: Lead the team during matches, handling everything from team selection and tactical guidance to managing player substitutions and parent communication.

Qualified Mentorship: Obtain your FA coaching badges (Safeguarding, First Aid, and Intro to Coaching) through the club's £160 reimbursement program (paid back after 6 months).

Digital Storytelling: Required to write detailed match reports following every game for the website, celebrating the team's progress and individual milestones.

Governance: Ensure all activities adhere to FA safeguarding standards and club codes of conduct.

Collaborative Growth: Attend 3-monthly club meetings to share best practices with other coaches and stay updated on club-wide initiatives.

Skills & Qualities:

Leadership: Ability to manage a group of children and keep them focused and motivated.

Growth Mindset: No prior coaching experience is required—we value character and reliability over tactical expertise!

Communication: Ability to provide constructive feedback to players and maintain positive relationships with parents.

Time Commitment: Approx. 3-4 hours per week (midweek training + weekend match), plus periodic meetings and report writing.

4. Club Support Coordinator ?

The Heart of our Community. This is a vital, people-focused role that ensures our players, parents, and volunteers feel supported and safe. You are the champion of the club's culture off the pitch, making sure every family feels welcome from their very first training session.

Detailed Responsibilities:

Community Liaison: Act as the primary, friendly point of contact for parents and supporters. You’ll handle general inquiries, welcome new families, and bridge the gap between the committee and the touchline.

Volunteer Activation: Support our 'Ents and Events' team by mobilizing parent volunteers for matchdays and special club activities. You help turn "someone should do that" into "we’ve got this."

Safety Oversight: Ensure that every match and training session has designated first aid cover. While you don't necessarily provide the aid yourself, you are the architect of the safety plan, ensuring no session goes uncovered.

Equipment & Compliance: Maintain the club’s first aid inventory, ensuring kits are fully stocked and that incident forms are completed and filed correctly to keep our players and the club protected.

Culture Building: Proactively help create a positive, inclusive, and welcoming environment. You are the champion of the club’s values on the sidelines, ensuring a high standard of player welfare.

Collaborative Voice: Attend 3-monthly club meetings to report on sideline welfare and coordinate volunteer support for upcoming club-wide milestones.

Skills & Qualities:

People Focused: A natural "people person" who enjoys building relationships and helping others.

Organisational Skills: Ability to maintain simple logs (like first aid stock) and coordinate volunteer rotas.

Excellent Communicator: Comfortable talking to parents and committee members to keep everyone aligned.

Time Commitment: Highly flexible and easy to scale. Requires a visible presence on matchdays and attendance at quarterly meetings.

5. Website Content Creator & Graphic Designer ?

The Voice and Vision of GVFC. In the digital age, our website and social media are the "front door" of the club. You will be responsible for making sure that door is always open and inviting, showcasing the incredible stories that happen at Grimsargh Village FC every week.

Detailed Responsibilities:

Digital Hub Management: Keep the Pitchero website updated with fresh news, match reports, league tables, and upcoming event schedules.

Brand Identity: Create high-quality graphics for use across the site and social media, including "Match Day" previews, "Full Time" result graphics, and recruitment posters.

Media Partnership: Work closely with the Social Media Manager to provide visual assets and photos that capture the spirit of the club.

Technical Formatting: Use BBCode to ensure articles and pages are professionally formatted and easy to read within the Pitchero system.

Compliance: Ensure all photography and content strictly follows GDPR and club media privacy policies, particularly regarding the protection of children's identities.

Strategy & Planning: Attend 3-monthly club meetings to understand upcoming milestones (like awards nights or tournaments) and plan the content calendar accordingly.

Skills & Qualities:

Creative Flair: Experience with tools like Canva, Photoshop, or similar design software.

Technical Curiosity: A willingness to master the Pitchero platform and the basics of BBCode.

Attention to Detail: Ensuring names are spelled correctly and information is accurate before it goes live.

Time Commitment: Flexible and mostly remote, approx. 1-3 hours per week. Includes attendance at quarterly meetings to help plan the club's communications.
